Paging service is a communication service based on radio transmission. Main difference of the service (if compared to e.g. mobile phones or radio transmitters) is that the message is relayed in one way only, i.e. from sender to receiver. Such construction gives multiple advantages to the user of paging service:

Pager is never occupied.
Pager is small and unnoticeable. It is convenient to fix it to the belt or carry it in a handbag. Messages arrive delicately, they neither interrupt nor disturb, they are voiceless.
The owner of the pager may decide himself whether a return call is needed.
The coverage area mainly depends on capacity of service transmitters and much less on specific pagers.
